Roots of the Female Diaconate in Vatican II: Dom Athanasius Schneider

Interview Organization: Apostolado Petrino
Date: November 8, 2019
Note: This interview is in Portuguese
Bishop Schneider explains that women serving as deacons or performing liturgical functions at Mass contradicts the Church’s divine structure. While some Western churches have introduced female readers, acolytes, and Communion distributors, traditionally, women represented the Bride of Christ in the nave, not the sanctuary. This change reflects Protestant-style influence rather than Catholic tradition.
