A Shepherd Solicitous for the Whole Church: Bishop Athanasius Schneider in Conversation with Dániel Fülep & Others
The title of this book alludes to Lumen Gentium no. 23: "Each [individual bishop], as a member of the episcopal college and legitimate successor of the apostles, is obliged by Christ's institution and command to be solicitous for the whole Church, and this solicitude, though it is not exercised by an act of jurisdiction, contributes greatly to the advantage of the universal Church." No more perfect words can be found to describe the life and work of Bishop Athanasius Schneider, whose mind is held captive by Christ and whose heart goes out to "all the churches" (cf. 2 Cor 10:5, 11:28).
Over the years, Bishop Schneider has granted many illuminating interviews that serve as beacons for the storm-tossed faithful. This present volume collects seven of them: the substantial interview conducted with His Excellency by the Hungarian theologian Dániel Fülep in Kazakhstan in July 2018, plus six others dating from between 2015 and 2023. In wide-ranging exchanges, we hear Bishop Schneider reflecting on versus populum, the validity of the new sacramental rites, celibacy, patriarchy, women's ordination, papal elections, papolatry, Amoris Laetitia, La Salette, the conversion of Russia, the European Union, migration, Islam, the conversion of the Jews, Freemasonry, modernism, aggiornamento, the SSPX, the Neocatechumenal Way, praying the Rosary during Mass, Pius X's reform of the breviary, episcopal conferences, and much else besides. We stumble across delightful revelations: how the bishop's little book Dominus Est changed the Vatican's liturgical policy; how, after a lapse of 27 years, he was able to visit the priest, then 86 years old, who had given him his First Communion-and who then humbly served his Mass like an altar boy; the Soviet propaganda songs he had to learn as a child; why he chose "Kyrie eleison" as his episcopal motto.
In these edifying pages, we hear, again and again, the voice of a good shepherd who is truly and ardently solicitous for the whole Church.

No Greater Love: The True Meaning of Martyrdom is a guide to not only the Church’s teaching on martyrdom, but a prayerful exposition of the models of Catholic Martyrdom. Born from the sacrifice of Christ―the Faithful Witness―martyrdom remains the Church’s most powerful testimony to the Eternal Truth. From the Holy Innocents to modern saints, martyrs have offered their lives in unwavering love and fortitude. This book explores both the visible martyrdom of blood and the hidden martyrdom of desire, revealing how every Christian is called to offer their life in love, even without the sword. Drawing on Scripture, papal wisdom, and the luminous witness of saints, readers are invited to embrace their role in the militant Church, striving toward holiness with courage and charity. In an age of noise, compromise, and confusion, Bishop Athanasius Schneider reminds us: the Truth is worth dying for―and even more, worth living for.

In this timely work dedicated to invigorating the heart of every priest, Bishop Athanasius Schneider draws upon the wisdom of Scripture, the Fathers and Doctors of the Church, and other great spiritual writers to bear witness to the gift of the priesthood. Man of God: The Catholic Priest and the Cornerstones of His Life provides rich reflections on the great loves of the priest: God, the Catholic faith, the priesthood of Christ, the salvation of souls, humility, chastity, the Cross, the Holy Mass, the tabernacle, the confessional, the holy angels, and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Prayerful consideration of Man of God will undoubtedly foster a deeper love for the spiritual treasures of the priesthood and rekindle in all priests the embers of desire that first drew them toward their holy vocation.

“The entire Scripture is only one book that speaks of Christ.” — St. Augustine
The Fathers of the Church are revered as the primary commentators on Sacred Scripture. Their wisdom, teachings, and witness have withstood the test of time and conveyed the Faith accessibly and universally. While Catholics worldwide are able to enjoy their insights on feasts and special seasons in the Church’s daily Office of Readings, the “ordinary” weekdays of the liturgical year — called ferial days — have historically not contained such reflections from the Fathers. Finally, here is a book to fill that gap, offering a concise catena of Patristic commentaries on the daily biblical readings for the hour of Matins in the traditional Roman Breviary.
In these profound pages, champion of the Faith and patristics scholar Bishop Athanasius Schneider presents a new arrangement of carefully selected readings from the writings of the Church Fathers of both East and West. Through their words, he seeks to help readers grow in prayer, contemplation, and fidelity to Christ’s teachings as reflected in the daily liturgical worship of the Church.
This volume is a spiritual and theological treasure that will benefit priests, religious, seminarians, and laity who use the traditional Breviary. Presented in a beautiful portable binding, the book includes both Latin and English texts for Advent, Christmastime, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost, all handsomely typeset in facing columns. It is arranged by liturgical season and features brief biographies on each of the Fathers whose writings are contained in the book, and thus, it can serve as a compelling introduction to their other works.
His Excellency has entrusted this little work to Our Lady, whom he describes as the supreme example of “love for the Word of God.” Readers of the book will be well disposed to experience the intercession of the Mother of the Incarnate Word as they encounter the Word of God more deeply through the Fathers of the Church.

“There is no problem . . . no matter how difficult it may be, that we cannot resolve through the prayer of the Holy Rosary.” — Sister Lúcia of Fátima
Champion of the Faith Bishop Athanasius Schneider sounds a rallying cry to all Catholics to take up the mightiest spiritual weapon in our arsenal: Our Lady wants you to embark on a Rosary Crusade, under her mantle, to repel the forces of evil and disentangle the vexing problems we face in these troubled times.
Unite your prayers with those of the universal Church with this profound guide into the spiritual depths of the Holy Rosary. Enter into heartfelt prayers and penetrating meditations on the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries, enriched by Holy Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the wisdom of the saints. Inspired by the victories wrought through fervent faith and the recitation of the Rosary, such as during the legendary Battle of Lepanto, these reflections illustrate how Marian devotion has the power to restore the Body of Christ — the Holy Catholic Church — and foster holiness in her members.
Bishop Schneider relates that faith, moral life, pastoral and clerical life, and the sacred liturgy are all under withering attack, including from within the Church. But don’t lose heart! In these stirring and thought-provoking pages, rooted in our rich traditions, His Excellency urges believers to unite in imploring Our Lady to intercede for a new era of saintly popes and holy leadership to safeguard, renew, and uplift the Faith.
Offering an inspiring vision of hope and restoration, Salve Regina is a spiritual treasure for those seeking deeper devotion, fresh insights into the lives of Jesus and Mary, and a pathway to grace in these times of upheaval. This potent book also includes a Prayer to Plead for Holy Popes and a Litany to the Child Jesus.

Society is lost and confused about God, morality, and eternity. Catholics face persecution, from outside and inside the Church, for living their Faith. Priests speak out against errors and corruption in their own hierarchy, only to be marginalized and punished by their superiors. The few bishops who remain faithful to the changeless teaching of Christ are rebuked and “canceled,” even by the pope himself, and sent into exile. Catholics longing for reverent worship are forced out of their parishes and into makeshift venues.
This is a description of the Catholic Church in the fourth century.
With similar patterns recurring in our time, one Catholic bishop is calling out to souls:
“Know the errors and embrace the truth!”
In Flee from Heresy, Bishop Athanasius Schneider — raised among persecuted Catholics in the Soviet Union — offers a systematic treatment of more than 130 doctrinal errors, from ancient times down to our own day, along with English translations of the Church’s major anti-heresy documents of the past two centuries.
In this fascinating exposé, you will discover the ideological roots of our own unsteady times and be better equipped to “test all things; hold fast what is good” (1 Thess. 5:21). You will learn:
- What heresy is — and what it is not
- A sweeping history of heresies across the centuries
- How heresy destroys charity and the spiritual life
- Why God allows heresy to afflict His holy Church
- Names and categories of more than 130 doctrinal errors
- The nefarious heresy of the anti-Christ and the anti-Mary
- How heresy relates to schism, apostasy, and excommunication
- Why the Virgin Mary is invoked as “Destroyer of Heresies”
Combining theological precision, superb historical insight, and concrete principles for action today, Flee from Heresy is a timely and trustworthy guide to errors old and new.

Without proper religious and moral instruction, “every form of intellectual culture will be injurious; for young people not accustomed to respect God will be unable to bear the restraint of a virtuous life.” — Pope Leo XIII
Due to poor catechesis, too many Catholics — including those in positions of teaching authority — are oblivious to what the Church actually teaches and how to live virtuous lives. We are reaping the fruits of “the catastrophic failure of modern catechesis,” explained Pope Benedict XVI.
Reality check: It’s time to get back to the basics.
In these potent pages, courageous herald of the Faith Bishop Athanasius Schneider instructs the flock with carefully selected wisdom from Holy Fathers of modern times to help you grow in knowledge of the truth and share it with others. This special edition, which includes relevant headings and annotations, is designed for easy reference. With these highlights, Bishop Schneider — witnessing in the role of a chief shepherd of souls — breaks open:
- What the Faith is and how we know it with certainty
- The definition of true catechesis and how it should be implemented
- Guidance from St. Pius X on teaching and preserving the Faith, and rejecting heresies
- Encouragement from Pope Benedict XIV on catechesis amid challenges
- Practical advice from Pope Clement XIII about safeguarding the faithful from error
- The scandal, according to Pope Pius XI, of teaching children spiritual errors, including immorality
- Why distributive justice demands that Catholics have a right to their own schools
- The grave duty of parents is to educate their children to prepare them for Heaven
Drawing from the example of the saints, including Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, Charles Borromeo, and Gregory the Great, priests, consecrated parents, and lay teachers will learn how to impart the Faith more zealously and effectively to those in their care.

The most up-to-date "catechism" in print! For the first time in over fifty years, a Catholic bishop has published his own comprehensive presentation of the Faith--what to believe, how to live, and how to pray as Christ taught.
Sure to be a classic for generations to come, Credo: Compendium of the Catholic Faith offers a clear and readable summary of Catholicism as a whole, given in the pastoral style of the apostles. Using the simple and direct "Question-Answer" format so popular among instructors (and internet search engines), Bishop Athanasius Schneider shares a bold new articulation of timeless truths, while also engaging current issues with courage and kindness.
After an Introduction outlining Christian identity and doctrine, Part I unpacks what Catholics believe, following the articles of the Apostle's Creed. Part II explains the principles of right moral action, following the Commandments. Part III teaches on grace, the sacraments, prayer, and worship. Appendices include the five major Christian Creeds, and a stellar Index (plus unique headers and bleed tabs) makes navigating the book delightfully easy.

Reminiscent of The Ratzinger Report of 1985, Christus Vincit will be a key point of reference for years to come.

Compiled under the direction of St. Charles Borromeo and recognized as the most authoritative Catholic catechism. Leo XIII recommended two books– the Summa and this Catechism–for all seminarians! Pope Benedict 16th, as a Cardinal, called it the most important Catholic Catechism. Originally designed to supply parish priest with an official book of instruction, it has been used extensively by the laity as a steadying guide in our confused age. New typesetting and beautiful hardbound cover.

The faithful deprived of the Mass. Persecution and removal of clergy. Promulgation of communism and rampant heresies. Dehumanization, dictatorship, and the destruction of life.
Bishop Athanasius Schneider experienced these sufferings growing up in the 1960s in the former Soviet Union, and they are now a reality in the West. A witness to the truth passed down from the apostles, Bishop Schneider explains that, especially since the time of the French Revolution, natural law, order, and a sense of the supernatural have been eroded and replaced, through Freemasonry and other false ideologies, with widespread apostasy, to the point where society is now almost entirely devoid of God.
This riveting and climactic interview with Bishop Schneider tackles each and every controversial issue of our time. With charity, wisdom, and occasional humor, Bishop Schneider provides a rich historical and theological perspective with straightforward answers to a profusion of startling questions on topics such as ecumenism, ecology, Mass reforms, the German Church, Hell, Purgatory, sin, heresy, the roles of women in the Church, the traditional liturgy, and much more! Amid the encircling darkness, this compendium of straight, authoritative answers elucidates the truths of our Faith with a piercing light. It will make you cheer as it reorients you on your journey with Christ. Be encouraged, as Bishop Schneider provides inspiring insights for the battle. Be enthused to uphold Church teachings and worship God no matter the challenges that may lie ahead. Be strengthened to trust God and follow the examples of the saints. Be energized to live your vocation and stand up courageously in our chaotic times.
In The Springtime That Never Came, Bishop Schneider calls for a “new apologetics” and “re-Catholicization” of countries that have lost the Catholic Faith. He teaches us to avoid the “mental gymnastics” caused by theological confusion and assures us that souls return to the Church through repentance and reverence for the Blessed Sacrament, Eucharistic Adoration and processions, Confession, and the Holy Rosary. Bishop Schneider believes our current situation, marked in many places by a deprivation of Holy Mass and Communion, is God’s “merciful appeal for a true eucharistic conversion of the whole Church.”

In what is sure to be seen as one of the most impressive and authoritative books ever written on the Catholic Mass, Bishop Schneider reestablishes what Catholics have known for centuries but have largely forgotten today: that the Mass is the highest form of Christian prayer, which enables us to express with exterior worship our interior belief.
He describes how saints such as Padre Pio and John Vianney helped the faithful enter into a profound spiritual experience during Mass, and he explains why the Mass should serve as a means to lift our hearts to God so we can surrender to His will. You’ll come to understand why the rubrics are vital to preserving the authenticity of the liturgy, and you’ll learn why architecture, music, sacred art, and even incense are vital symbols that direct our attention to Heaven. You’ll also learn:
-How to recollect and listen to God’s Word properly
-The keys to lifting your heart and surrendering to God’s will at Mass
-Why it’s essential to celebrate the Mass ad orientem
-How following the rituals assists you in contemplating the spiritual
-Ways you can unite yourself to the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross
-The most profitable ways of spending time in thanksgiving following Holy Communion
Bishop Schneider and coauthor Aurelio Porfiri encourage the revival of public prayers, such as the Liturgy of the Hours and Eucharistic adoration. He explains how genuflecting, kneeling, and prostrating oneself are all outward signs of reverence that demonstrate this inward action. Our duty, he declares, is to render “perpetual thanksgiving” to God at Mass. Indeed, as he solemnly asserts, “The Mass is the greatest and most important work of the Church.”

Prayer for the Hastening of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
O Immaculate Heart of Mary, Holy Mother of God, and our tender Mother, look upon the distress in which the whole of mankind is living due to the spread of materialism, godlessness, and the persecution of the Catholic Faith.
In our own day, the Mystical Body of Christ is bleeding from so many wounds caused within the Church by the unpunished spread of heresies, the justification of sins against the Sixth Commandment, the seeking of the kingdom of earth rather than that of heaven, the horrendous sacrileges against the Most Holy Eucharist, especially through the practice of Communion in the hand, and the Protestant shaping of the celebration of the Holy Mass.
Amidst these trials appeared the light of the consecration of Russia to thine Immaculate Heart by the Pope, in union with the world’s bishops. In Fatima thou didst request the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays of the month. Implore thy Divine Son to grant a special grace to the Pope, that he might approve the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays.
May Almighty God hasten the time when Russia will convert to Catholic unity, mankind will be given a time of peace, and the Church will be granted an authentic renewal in the purity of the Catholic Faith, the sacredness of divine worship, and the holiness of Christian life. O Mediatrix of all graces, O Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and our sweet Mother, turn thine eyes of mercy towards us and graciously hear this our trusting prayer.
Amen.
