Bishop Athanasius Schneider emphasizes the vital role of youth in renewing faith and tradition. He highlights their innate desire for truth, beauty, and heroism, linking true militancy to spiritual struggle. Drawing from saints and Church teaching, he urges devotion, purity, and reliance on guardian angels and the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The importance of proper education and formation of the youth today, the work of the young people is very important for the rebirth and promotion of the faith and a true tradition. How do young people relate to tradition? The culture of modern man wants us to believe that young people would be opposed to what is traditional and that they would be obsessed with novelty and passing things. The reality is, however, the opposite. Those who came up with heresies, atheistic philosophies, relativism, and moral permissiveness were not young people, but men of an already mature age. The young people desire ideal things, that is, things that are true and beautiful and also difficult. The young people aspire to heroism. Heroism is born in a soul, often at a young age. A characteristic of the young people is also the desire to fight, to defend what is dear to them.

Young people carry within themselves the spirit of militancy. The real and most important militancy is, however, the spiritual militancy to which God Himself exhorts us in His Holy Word. When there is no battle, there is no Christianity; when there is no fighting, there is no true Church of God, no true Catholic Church. We are, for good reason, not to be ashamed of the Catholic faith, because it is the ancient faith founded by Christ and taught by his apostles. It is the faith for which innumerable holy martyrs have suffered and died. It is the faith that has brought true civilization into the world with all its benefits, and it is the only faith that can truly reform and preserve public and private morality. We should know the principal mysteries of the faith and the duties of a Catholic; we have a remarkable third-century text available, which makes an ardent appeal to always remain a good soldier of Christ. Quotation, consider this with me. When does Christ need your help? Now, when the wicked has sworn war against his bride, the Church, or in the future time, when he will reign victorious, needing no further help, it is not obvious to anyone with even the slightest understanding that it is now alongside this good king, whose nature is to give great awards after the victory.

So an affirmation from an old text from the third century, epistola clementis at jacobum in his address to the young people of the Italian Catholic Action from April 2019, 46, Pope Pius the 12th said quotation, the subject against which the adversary directs his assaults in our day, openly or insidiously, is no longer as he used to do in the past, one of the other particular element of doctrine or discipline, but to the whole faith and the morals of Christians to its extreme consequences, it is a complete yes or a complete no in such real circumstances. A true Catholic must remain even more firmly attached to the foundations of his faith and demonstrate these by his actions. God has inscribed in the human soul a deep longing for truth and beauty, the purer a human soul is, and the more it is filled with graces of faith, the more spontaneously is it attracted by supernatural truth and supernatural beauty, therefore, the pure souls of innocent children, the sincere souls of young people, the souls of simple, faithful people, of souls who are not yet contaminated By the clerical ideology of anthropocentrism in the liturgy are drawn by the magnetism of truth, of order, of beauty that radiates from the traditional Latin Mass, especially young People feel in the depth of their souls that they are born for a higher ideal, even for heroism, in Holy Baptism.

According to the traditional rite of the Roman church, we were marked with seven crosses to always be reminded of the fact that a Christian is inseparably united with the cross of our Lord to be spiritually protected and to lead a life of a holy battle for the Lord with the invincible sign of his cross, we were marked on the forehead to accept the cross of the Lord. We have been marked on the ears to hear the divine precepts. We have been marked on the eyes to see the clarity of God. We have been marked on the nose to smell the sweetness of Christ. We have been marked on the mouth to speak the words of life. We have been marked on the chest to believe in God, and we have been marked on the shoulders to take the yoke of Christ’s service.

A young saint of modern times, Blessed Ivan Merz, who died in Zagreb, Croatia, in 1928 at the age of 32, is an impressive model for the work of young people and their role within the church for the rebirth and promotion of tradition. May the following reflections of this young Saint enlighten and encourage young Catholics of our day. Quotation, God wanted most men and women to marry, family life is therefore, for many, the source of the purest and most beautiful earthly joys, you will not find genuine joy in public squares, at Entertainment, in dance halls, in cinemas and taverns, but In the family home, the family is founded on true and mutual love between husband and wife and on the love of parents for their children. But even in marriage, joy is not complete and without disturbances, because illnesses, suffering, and death often obscure it, often disturbing the same loved one, thus realizing that even in marriage, happiness cannot be complete. It will be so only in eternal union with God. Earthly Love is an image of God’s love, an image of Christ’s love for the holy church. It is a way towards God’s embrace, so blessed. Ivan Mertz on our earthly pilgrimage towards our eternal homeland. God gave us as protectors, guides, teachers, brothers, co-fighters against the evil spirits and co-adorers of God, the holy angels, especially our holy guardian angel.

They protect our body and soul as messengers of God. They illuminate us, encourage us, and admonish us. They are always on our side. Saint Jen hen John Henry Newman said quotation, no Christian is so humble, but he has angels to attend on him if he lives by faith and love, though they are so great, so glorious, so pure, so wonderful, that they the very sight of them, if we were allowed to see them, would strike us to the earth, as it did the prophet Daniel, holy and righteous as he was. Yet, they are our fellow servants and our fellow workers, and they carefully watch over and defend even the humblest of us, if we be Christ’s, so St. John Henry Newman, the guardian angels are not only present, but their company overflows with tenderness and love. What still requires on our part for them is a love made of tenderness, that is, of devotion.

Devotion is actualized in the Praxis of prayer every day, invoking one’s Angel at the beginning and at the end of each day, but also throughout the day; our trust in our guardian angel should always increase. St John Henry Newman wrote these verses for his angel, my oldest friend, mine from the hour when first I drew my breath, my faithful friend, that shall be Mine, unfailing till my death. So, St John Henry Newman, the most powerful help in the personal life of young people as soldiers of Christ and in the life of the whole militant church, is the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, the queen of the holy angels; she is who triumphs in all the battles of the Lord. Let us invoke our heavenly mother with these words: O Divine Mother, send the Holy Angels and Archangels to defend me and to keep the cruel enemy far from me. Holy Angels and Archangels defend us, protect us. O good and tender mother, you will always be our love and our hope. Amen.
