Joe: It’s an amazing period, people are all over the place. Frankly, I think it’s very dangerous. Many people are going to go in the wrong direction because of it, and they are in the wrong place spiritually.
Bishop Schneider: Yes. In my opinion, the root of this confusion is the lack of clear positions and teachings in the current pontificate under Pope Francis. Much of the confusion stems from this. However, the behavior of individuals, as you mentioned, is also not correct. We cannot reject Pope Francis simply because some of his statements or actions are ambiguous. He remains the Pope and will not lose his papacy. We must pray for him so that he may regain the strength to teach clearly and unambiguously. This is his task, the task given by Jesus Christ to the apostles and all Popes. On the other hand, even in documents such as those from Vatican II, there are expressions that are objectively ambiguous. I discuss some of these in my book The Springtime That Never Came.
