Bishop Schneider states that blasphemous items in churches, such as idols or rainbow flags, are abominations. While physical violence must be avoided, it can be appropriate to remove such items peacefully, prudently, and discreetly. He encourages men to act as soldiers and knights of Christ in defending the faith.

Rob: My next question is one of moral theology. I think many of us, especially men and fathers, are asking ourselves what limits we have on our actions when we try to fight back against some of the modernism and the craziness going on in the world and in the Church.

For instance, we know that we can never do something evil in order to achieve good, but can we, for example, if there is a rainbow banner on a church, pull it down? A good example would be the Pachamama in Rome. Are we allowed to take something like an idol from a church and throw it into a river? What sort of limits do we have on actions like that?

Bishop Athanasius Schneider: I think yes, because this is an abomination. How can there be an idol in a church or a rainbow flag, which represents an anti-Christian and blasphemous ideology?

Therefore, I think this is an abomination. Of course, we should not start to fight physically. That must be avoided. But prudently and discreetly, it may be appropriate to remove such things peacefully, without violence, but in a prudent way. Yes, this is your task, especially for men, to be soldiers of Christ, to be knights of Christ.
