Bishop Athanasius Schneider affirms that the Blessed Virgin Mary, as Mother of God, was the first believer in Christ’s resurrection. He emphasizes that the Church Fathers always held this belief, and it would be absurd to think Mary would not recognize that her Son, being God, rose from the dead.

Of course, without any doubt, she was the first believer in this in the Church, and the Church Fathers always believed this. Because she is the Mother of God, she knew that this was the Son of God. How could the Son of God, who is God, not be raised from the dead? It would be absurd that Our Lady would not believe it.
