Bishop Schneider says infant communion could benefit an innocent child’s soul but is practically difficult in the Latin rite. He explains a method of giving a drop of the Precious Blood and says the Council of Trent acknowledged infant communion without condemning it, though it stated it is not necessary.

If you like what we do and want to regularly support our mission to build the Reign of Mary and/or assist the episcopal ministry of Bishop Athanasius Schneider, please consider becoming a Servant of Mary.

Yes, I think it would also be a blessing for this child, for his soul, as long as it is an innocent child and cannot use reason. But it is a practical question, a difficulty, because how to give birth to a baby can be complicated, and it is difficult, right? There is a very practical method. They simply give, with a spoon, one drop of the blessed Precious Blood on the tongue of the baby. And this is sufficient, because in the Precious Blood is also the body of Christ, so the entire Christ. So that we do not have these problems with the spoon. I think it is more a practical question, a difficulty in the Latin rite. Maybe in the future, a method could be found, even in the Latin rite, only for community infants.

Even the Council of Trent mentioned infant communion, but only said that it is not necessary for infants. It is only for those who are already using reason. For them, the Holy Communion once a week, once a year, is appropriate. But for infants, it is not necessary. So it is supposed that the Council knew about infant communion, the Council of Trent, and did not condemn it as such.
