Hope, one of the Theological Virtues, calls us to trust in the Lord. While evil may rise, God remains the Lord of history. The greatest evil is sin, not physical death or suffering. Our true goal is Heaven, not this temporary world. We must nurture supernatural hope and avoid despair.

Transcript:

Hope is one of the so-called Theological Virtues. Among these Theological Divine Virtues, Faith, Hope, and Love (or Charity) are the most important. Therefore, we must cultivate them in our souls every day; it is our duty. The virtue of supernatural hope calls us to trust in the Lord.

Our faith in the Lord tells us that all of history, all the events of our own lives, and the entire world are in God's hands. He is the Lord of history, even though evil is on the rise. While the Devil is called the prince of this world, God remains the Lord of history and the Lord of this world.

This is the truth we must renew in our consciences, believing in the victory of Christ over evil. The greatest evil is not physical death caused by nuclear war, natural disasters, or sickness. These are not the greatest evils. The greatest evil is sin.

Mortal sin is the greatest evil, and therefore, we must avoid it. Our aim, our goal, is not here in this world. This world is only temporary. Our goal is to reach our true homeland, which is Heaven.

We must believe in this and become ever more conscious of this divine truth. We are called to nurture in ourselves supernatural hope and never yield to despair or any other forms of distrust and hopelessness.
