Question 259 – Does receiving communion on the tongue while kneeling down makes us not one with the Church?

Interview Organization: The Confraternity of Our Lady of Fatima
Interviewer Name: Christopher Wendt
Date: March 14, 2024
The priest's statement is abusive and fallacious, as he lacks the authority to make such claims. Unity with the Church comes through shared faith and recognizing its canonical authority. A document from Pope John Paul II affirms a Catholic's right to receive communion kneeling and on the tongue, which the priest is wrong to oppose.

Transcript:

Oh no, this is completely wrong. The police said this is an abusive statement from this priest. His statement is like a fallacy, and he has neither the power nor the authority to make such statements.

You are one with the Church when you share the same faith as the Church and recognize the authority of the Church, including its canonical authority. This is the unity of the Church.

There are no different rights within the Church. As stated in a certain document of the Holy See, under the pontificate of John Paul II, it affirms that a Catholic has the right to receive our Lord kneeling and on the tongue. Therefore, this priest has no authority to speak against such a document from the Church. This is an abuse of his priestly office.
