Maybe you already know the result of the referendum in Ireland on abortion. It is said that the results are demonstrating that the great majority is against life, in favor of killing their own babies, their own children. This is very sad news, but you know that months before, there was a huge campaign of disinformation and pressure on the entire Irish society, a demagogic manipulation of public opinion. It is a demonstration that those who have power in society, in politics, and in the mass media, this is a dictatorship we live in, a dictatorship in Europe against life and against family.
They are not the winners. This is not a victory. Ours is the victory. Those in Ireland who fought to defend life against these modern Goliaths are the victors, even the minority, the apparent minority, the so-called official minority, who voted for life in Ireland. They are the true winners, my dear brothers and sisters, because God is on their side, and God is the God of life. Those who apparently won in this referendum lost. They are the losers, because on their side is death. Life, the good, and God will always win.
And you, my dear families, with large families, and all families here with the children and young people, you are the members of the winners with Christ, even when we will be a minority, and we will be a minority in society. God is with us, and this shall give us courage, conviction, determination, and joy to live and witness for the beauty of life, for the beauty of family, for the beauty of marriage. So you will truly, really give hope and the future for society, and especially for the church. Thank you for your witness and for your fidelity.
