The lay faithful should feel compassion for a bishop or priest who has lost the supernatural view and has significantly weakened his faith. They ought to offer their prayers for his conversion, seeking God's mercy to grant him a renewed sense of illumination.

At this stage, there might be limited actions the laity can take because when a bishop loses the supernatural view, only God's intervention can make a difference. Humanitarian efforts may not be effective as the bishop is spiritually blind, lacking a perspective on the supernatural. Therefore, the primary response is to pray for him, urging him to engage in penance and reparation.
