Because I don’t know the specific situation in these cases, it’s difficult to say. Each case must be proven individually to determine whether there is real injustice being committed by the bishop against the priest. The priest has the right to appeal to Rome, as canon law permits. Rome will then examine the situation. If such ‘cancel situations’ are raised, the priest’s conscience should be clear, knowing they are not guilty of any crimes or misconduct. These priests must appeal to Rome. If the matter is not resolved, they may consider taking it to civil court, if necessary. If not, then in faith, they should simply accept the cross and offer it for the sanctification of their soul and for the church.
