The Holy See, in an official statement by Pope John Paul II, affirmed that a faithful person can receive Holy Communion a second time on the same day, but only during Mass, not after or outside of Mass. This clarification already serves as the Church's established norm.

This question was already addressed many years ago by the Holy See. In an official statement by Pope John Paul II, the issue of whether a faithful person can receive Holy Communion a second time on the same day was answered affirmatively. However, it was specified that the second reception of Communion must occur during Mass, not simply after Mass or outside of Mass. This is already a norm that the Church has clarified.
