Well, before we do our examination of conscience, we must always pray. You must pray to the Holy Spirit for illumination to show you your shortcomings because sometimes people, even good people, are blinded by their wrongdoings and imperfect attachments. So we need to pray fervently to the Holy Spirit before beginning our examination of conscience.
I would recommend praying to your guardian angel because your guardian angel is there day and night by your side, and he is the witness of all your deeds. So go ahead and ask him; your guardian angel is your good brother and companion. It is a possibility that you are living the fullest version of the Christian life when you have a good conscience. I would certainly recommend doing everything a good spiritual author recommends, especially a brief examination of conscience in the evening. You will be more aware of your errors if you constantly examine your conscience.
