Question 71 – Do Babies, That Are The Fruit Of IVF, Have Immortal Souls?

Interview Organization: Confraternity of Our Lady of Fatima
Interviewer Name: Christopher P. Wendt
Date: January 13, 2022
In vitro fertilization is immoral as it separates the unitive and procreative aspects of marriage, violating God’s divine order. Life, and the creation of the immortal soul, occurs only through the conjugal act between spouses. Though souls are still created in vitro, the act remains a grave sin.

Transcript:

First, in vitro fertilization is immoral. It is not allowed and it is against the order of God to hand over life, God established this. It is only during the conjugal act between spouses that we get a new life, which God ordered. As humans, we do not have the right to change this Divine Order.

Doing this would be a grave sin and in vitro fertilization is a grave sin because it is in this moment that they separate the unitive moment and the beginning of life. The beginning of life is the creation of the immortal soul. When two elements unite between man and woman, it is at this moment that God creates an immortal soul.

It is so moving that God creates even if the same thing happens when two parts unite in vitro. An immortal soul is still created. Some people were conceived in this manner, and they are alive, having the same soul as we do.
