Question 192 – How can we learn Latin effectively as a family?

Interview Organization: The Confraternity of Our Lady of Fatima
Interviewer Name: Christopher P. Wendt
Date: May 13, 2023
Reading parts of the Latin Mass with children at home, including simple responses like "Dominus vobiscum," helps them learn and understand basic prayers like the Kyrie and Sanctus. Teaching these prayers from childhood allows them to memorize and carry them throughout their lives, enabling them to join in Latin prayers wherever they go.
If you like what we do and want to regularly support our mission to build the Reign of Mary and/or assist the episcopal ministry of Bishop Athanasius Schneider, please consider becoming a Servant of Mary.

Transcript:

At home, read parts of the Latin Mass together with the children, at least the simple responses, such as Dominus vobiscum, etc. Explain to the children the basic meaning of these prayers, such as the Kyrie or the Sanctus. This is possible, and the children will be able to memorize them. It's good to teach them these basic prayers from childhood. Then, as they grow up, they will remember them and live them throughout their lives. When they travel around the world, they will be able to join in Latin prayers.
