Question 129 – What should I do when I don’t feel close to God in prayer?

Interview Organization: Confraternity of Our Lady of Fatima
Interviewer Name: Christopher P. Wendt
Date: September 13, 2022
Prayer dryness can be a spiritual trial, a Cross, and a purification process. Prayer is about faith and fidelity, not personal feelings. Continuing to pray during dryness brings greater graces than emotional prayer. Accept this trial as purification, offering it as reparation for sins, and remain faithful in prayer.

Transcript:

Prayer dryness could be a trial, a spiritual trial, and we have to accept this as a Cross and as a purification process. Because prayers are not primarily about my personal feelings, but about my faith and fidelity to continue praying without even feeling anything. This is the first important law of prayer and God will grant you abundant graces, even more graces when you continue to pray even when you do not feel anything.

This spiritual dryness in your soul will be filled by God with abundant graces. The graces will even be more abundant than those times when you are in deep feelings and emotions So accept this situation from the hands of God as purification and offer this as reparation for your sins, the sins of others, and your difficult spiritual situation. Continue to be faithful in your prayers.
