For me, I think the legacy of the Pontificate of Pope Benedict consists in his historical act of giving back the freedom of Traditional Latin liturgy, stating that this liturgy was never abrogated and re-establishing the right for all priests of the Church of the Latin Rite to celebrate the Millennium-old Rite of the Holy Mass, which was prohibited or limited by Pope Paul VI de facto.
I believe Pope Benedict built a bridge between our time and the past, together with the saints, and what we call the Traditional Mass/Rite: The Mass of all ages. It is called in that sense because unceasingly and without change, it was used, lived, and loved for at least a millennium, including by the saints. In this sense, he reestablished tradition with his pontificate.
I consider this the most important act of his pontificate. His pontificate was worthwhile because of his act of reestablishing the traditional liturgy. The law of prayer (liturgy) must correspond to the law of faith as perfectly as possible, and this is achieved through the traditional liturgy of the Mass.
Another important aspect of his pontificate is his frequent stress or emphasis on the Church’s necessity of turning back again to the supernatural view. After the Council, the Church of our time is in danger of being occupied by horizontal, earthly, and temporal affairs.
I think these two pillars are very important in the pontificate of Pope Benedict.
