Question 207 – Can we fulfill our First Saturday devotion on Sundays?

Interview Organization: The Confraternity of Our Lady of Fatima
Interviewer Name: Christopher Wendt
Date: July 13, 2023
This is not an official practice but more of a matter of Church law. While no specific law directly addresses it, Sister Lucia of Fatima once responded to a similar question. She mentioned that in a grievous situation, if you cannot receive Holy Communion on the first Saturday, you may receive it the day before or the following Sunday with the same intention, provided you do so in a spirit of reparation, as Our Lady requested.
If you like what we do and want to regularly support our mission to build the Reign of Mary and/or assist the episcopal ministry of Bishop Athanasius Schneider, please consider becoming a Servant of Mary.

This is not a practice that you should follow officially, but rather a matter of Church law. No specific Church law says this directly. However, I once read that Sister Lucia of Fatima responded to a similar question. If I’m correct, she wrote that if it is a grievous situation where you cannot receive Holy Communion on the first Saturday, you can receive it either the day before or on the following Sunday, with the same intention. In doing so, you should receive Holy Communion in a spirit of reparation, as Our Lady asked.
