Question 208 – How can I remain faithful in my marriage when my spouse is difficult to handle?

Interview Organization: The Confraternity of Our Lady of Fatima
Interviewer Name: Christopher Wendt

Though painful, we must trust that the Lord never gives us a burden heavier than we can bear. In this situation, I recommend offering the pain to the Lord in a spirit of reparation for the family's sins and praying for the husband's conversion. Accepting this with faith, saying, "Lord, I trust You will not give me more than I can bear," will help ease the burden. Pray daily, especially the Rosary, for strength, the husband's conversion, and forgiveness, trusting in God's grace.

Transcript:

It's a painful situation, but I believe the Lord never gives us a burden heavier than we can bear. This is the truth we must accept. Therefore, in this case, I would advise simply to offer this painful situation to the Lord, in a spirit of reparation for all the sins of the family, for their sins, and for the conversion of the husband so that he, at least before he dies, may truly repent.

This would already be a great act of grace on the part of the lady when she does this. Trust in the Lord, accept it with faith, and say, "My Lord, I accept that You will not give me a burden heavier than I can carry." These offerings will help and make the burden a little easier to bear. Then, simply pray confidently every day, especially the Rosary, for the strength and conversion of the husband, and to forgive him as God forgives us every day, trusting in the Lord.
