Question 289 – Should lay people bring Holy Communion to the sick?

Interview Organization: The Confraternity of Our Lady of Fatima

It would be better for a priest to visit, especially on First Fridays, to bring Holy Communion and offer Confession. While laypeople can bring Communion to the sick, this isn’t ideal since Confession may be needed. Spiritual preparation should be done in advance, and if the priest can’t come, spiritual Communion can be an option.

Transcript:

I would say it would be better if the priest could come, for example, on First Fridays to bring Holy Communion. During that time, they can also prepare and go to Confession. Laypeople can bring Communion to the sick, but I think this is not ideal because sometimes people need to confess, and if they haven’t had the chance to do so, it becomes problematic. So, it would be better to prepare them in advance, perhaps not for daily Communion, but to prepare them spiritually. If the priest cannot come, then they can receive Communion spiritually.
