Question 291 – Who made God?

Interview Organization: The Confraternity of Our Lady of Fatima
Interviewer Name: Christopher Wendt
Date: July 13, 2024
God is eternal and uncreated, the beginning of all things. If someone created God, He would no longer be God. We cannot fully understand this mystery, but we must teach children that God's greatness surpasses our understanding. They should be encouraged to believe, love, and trust that God will provide understanding in time.

Well, this is God. If someone were to create God, He would not be God. The meaning of God is that He is without beginning, He is eternal and the beginning of all things. Without a beginning, this is a mystery. Therefore, we must explain to the child that God is so great He surpasses all our understanding, and that’s why He is God. If someone were to create Him, He would no longer be God. What makes God God is that He is uncreated and creates everything else. We cannot explain this rationally. I think we must also educate children to understand that God is so great and so mysterious. He surpasses our understanding, and we love and believe in Him. He is the beginning of all things, and no one created Him. At some point, we must instill in the child the faith to say, "I believe, my Lord because this is true." We have to tell them, "This is true, my child, and this is God. Believe in Him, love Him, and in time, God will give you the light to understand."
