Question 36 – Should We Start Organizing For An Underground Church?

Interview Organization: Confraternity of Our Lady of Fatima
Interviewer Name: Christopher P. Wendt
Date: April 13, 2021
The underground church begins in the family, the domestic church. Strengthen your family through prayer, especially the Rosary, and study the catechism together. Seek guidance from holy priests and avoid unbalanced ones. Historically, the Church has faced persecution, but our Lord has always been with us, even in clandestine times, for the salvation of souls.
If you like what we do and want to regularly support our mission to build the Reign of Mary and/or assist the episcopal ministry of Bishop Athanasius Schneider, please consider becoming a Servant of Mary.

Transcript:

The underground church starts in the family, the family is the domestic church. I encourage you to strengthen your family through prayer, especially the Holy Rosary. Study the catechism with other families. Get to know good priests, especially the holy and balanced ones, so that they can truly guide you towards holiness, and we have to pray to our Lord for this. Be prudent and stay away from unbalanced priests, especially those strange priests who see themselves as "Gurus."

In the setting of a clandestine church, back in my time during the Soviet Union, we had saintly priests, even though it was prohibited to say Mass publicly. We found a way; we set up a secret location with only a few faithful to worship the Blessed Lord in the Holy Mass.

These have been the circumstances in the Church for two thousand years. There have been Irish and English Catholics persecuted by Anglican Monarchs, as well as communist regimes in the Soviet Union and China. We have been through a lot of trials for our faith, but in those experiences, our Lord has been with us, assisting us even if we reach a point where we will become a clandestine church for the sake of the salvation of souls.
